Awesome A Team
Our photos show a triumphant winning Corsham swim team and the first success for Club Captains Freddie Sherratt and Amy McRae receiving the team’s trophy from Paul Robbins (Wilts ASA President). Click "read more" for the full story and more photos.

Although not afforded the opportunity on Sunday night, to congratulate the ‘A’ Team swimmers of their success on Saturday I can report the following;
The evening did not start too well on arrival at Trowbridge to find that one of our younger age group girls was ill and would not be competing, having already had a call that afternoon that another swimmer in the same age group was also ill, we suddenly found our team short of a swimmer in the younger age group.
It was only the efforts of Amanda Birkett who managed to contact her husband and get Felicity to travel from Corsham (where she was just getting ready to swim for the B team) over to Trowbridge in time to swim in the ‘A’ team and support the other 3 swimmers in that age group, well done to the Birkett family.
It was a little bit of a slow start for our swimmers however by event 5 we won the first of 18 1st places with the open girls of Nikki, Ellen, Sarah and Amy who with the support of Alice and Melissa went on to win all of their events. Our next win was soon to follow with the U15 boys Duncan, Dominic, Matt and Jonathon who went on to another 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Our open boys of Mike, Jack and Richard also had a couple of good wins and were supported by Alex, James and Laurence swimming up from the U17 age group these swimmers also gained wins in their own age group with the support of Oliver, Freddie and Peter.
In the U17 age group Emma, Hayley Kelly and Melissa also had 1 win and a couple of seconds and the U15 age group of Megan, Olivia, Charlotte and Lauren recorded 1 1st 2 2nd and 1 3rd place. Event 14 saw the first win for the U13 boys with Jake, Charles, Jesse and Sam winning the breaststroke relay they also had a second place and were well supported with Matthew and Elliott. Our U13 girls of Emily, Lucy and Hannah who without Felicity would not have recorded any places swam really well with an excellent 4th place in the freestyle relay.
The gala finished with a storming Corsham freestyle relay team winning with ease the final race of the night and showing the rest of the teams why we were worthy winners of the gala on the night.
After such good races from our team who also demonstrated they can have good starts, take-over’s and finishes it was difficult to pick swimmers of the gala. On the night we had tremendous swims from Sam Ross and Dominic Meiklereid and as always all swimmers put in a great deal of effort, to win throughout all of the gala’s but with consistency and tremendous sprinting my swimmers of the gala are Nikki Harris and Michael Edmundson.
My final thanks go to all who have team managed, recorded times, and helped to make all of the galas the success they have been. Well done everyone.
